How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 1343 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 1129 of 1343 (~84%) for quality reasons. The remaining 214 are what we'd actually surface.
- 994 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 110 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 20 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 3 shipped from a region we exclude
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Tetris (NES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 121 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Tetris (NES) because they are: that's the noise.

Tetris: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code & saving. The Nintendo release carries the US product code
NES-EI-USA(it shows up in seller titles and on the label). It is a puzzle game with no save feature, so there is no save battery to worry about. Check the label's code matches the US release. - Print variants. Reprints with different label and packaging details exist, and sealed copies are where those differences move the asking price most. Compare any claimed "early print" against reference photos instead of trusting the title.
- Don't confuse it with Tengen's Tetris. Tengen released its own separate, unlicensed NES Tetris, usually sold as a black cartridge. Sellers list it under the same game name, and its asking prices run far above the Nintendo version. This feed deliberately leaves Tengen listings out, so a "bargain" Tengen copy elsewhere is priced as a different, scarcer cart.
- Same-name traps. Game Boy Tetris, SNES Tetris & Dr. Mario and NES Tetris 2 share the title text and are filtered out here. If a listing shows a Game Boy cart or a Tetris 2 box, it is not this game.
- Sealed copies. Factory-sealed NES Tetris asks vary widely with print and seal condition. Treat resealed or unverified-seal listings with caution.
Buying NES games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every NES cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
