- What it is. Konami's Nintendo 64 action-adventure, released in North America in 1999. This page tracks the US-region copy; Japanese copies carry a different title and sell in a cheaper, separate market.
- Not to be confused with the first game. Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon is a different cart. Some sellers put "Mystical Ninja 2" in titles for this one, so check the label in the photos matches Goemon's Great Adventure before paying.
- Region copies. Japanese carts are often listed under the English title with only "Japan" or "NTSC-J" as the tell, and some are listed by US sellers. Confirm the seller states the US release or shows the label and product code.
- Print variants. Check the label and product code against the US release; don't pay a "rare variant" premium on the seller's say-so alone.
- Save mechanism. The original cart's save hardware is 25+ years old. Treat saving as unverified unless the seller shows a working save, and budget for repair regardless of "tested" claims.

Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
