How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 397 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 261 of 397 (~66%) for quality reasons. The remaining 136 are what we'd actually surface.
- 197 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 24 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 16 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 8 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 8 shipped from a region we exclude
- 7 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Star Wars Episode I: Racer (N64) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 110 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Star Wars Episode I: Racer (N64) because they are: that's the noise.

Episode I Racer: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release & save: LucasArts' pod-racing game for the Nintendo 64, released in the US in 1999. Check that the product code on the cartridge label matches the US release (NTSC-U/C). The game supports the Expansion Pak; a listing that calls it "required" is not describing a different game.
- Print variants: an early-run retail print and later budget reprints may exist. Treat any specific print claim as unverified until the seller shows the label.
- Modern reissues: Limited Run Games has released new sealed copies of this title in several editions. They are not original 1999 stock and their asking prices sit far from loose-cart prices. The feed filters titles that say "Limited Run", but a reissue listed without those words can still get through, so check the photos.
- Listing trap: "Not for resale" demo or display cartridges turn up at collector asking prices. The feed filters titles that say NFR or demo, but compare the label to a known retail copy before paying a premium.
- Often confused: Star Wars titles get bundled freely on N64 (for example Star Wars: Rogue Squadron). Read the title for the actual game on offer.
Buying Nintendo 64 games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Nintendo 64 cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
