How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 176 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 68 of 176 (~39%) for quality reasons. The remaining 108 are what we'd actually surface.
- 28 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 15 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 8 shipped from a region we exclude
- 7 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 5 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 2 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 2 priced above the curated ceiling
- 1 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (N64) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 98 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (N64) because they are: that's the noise.

Shadows of the Empire: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code: Check that the label code matches the US release before paying a premium.
- Prints: an original retail print and a later Player's Choice budget reprint both exist. Sellers label Player's Choice copies explicitly, and a sealed copy is the high end of the asking range. Confirm the print from photos instead of trusting the title.
- Not the same as the other Star Wars N64 games: Shadows of the Empire is often sold alongside Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and Star Wars Episode I: Racer. Multi-game sets are filtered out of this feed, so each game's price reflects one cartridge.
- Modern reissues: a Limited Run Games re-release of this title is sold new. It is a different product from an original sealed copy, and the feed filters it out.
- Listing traps seen while tuning: "complete" listings that turn out to be box and manual with no cartridge, and manual-only or box-only listings that use the game's name. Read the photos and confirm a cartridge is in the shot.
- Graded sealed copies: professionally graded sealed copies list at far higher asking prices than any raw copy, so compare them only against other graded listings.
Buying Nintendo 64 games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Nintendo 64 cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
