How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 372 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 356 of 372 (~96%) for quality reasons. The remaining 16 are what we'd actually surface.
- 336 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 11 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 3 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 2 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 shipped from a region we exclude
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Quake (N64) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 107 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Quake (N64) because they are: that's the noise.

Quake: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Publisher and release: Midway published the Nintendo 64 port of Quake in 1998 (US). Check that the product code on the label matches the US release; this page tracks US copies.
- Don't confuse it with Quake II. Quake II on N64 is a separate, Activision-published game with its own listings. Sellers often write "Quake 1" or "Quake 64" for this one, and the feed rejects titles naming Quake II.
- Print variants: we haven't verified any print-run or label differences for this title, so don't pay a premium for a claimed "first print" without photos of a known-authentic copy to compare against.
- Listing traps seen while tuning: standalone manuals, promo poster inserts, strategy guides and Quake Pak accessories carry the Quake name in the title. The feed screens most of these out, but check the photos before paying cartridge prices for anything that isn't a cart.
- Sealed copies: asking prices vary widely. Read the title and photos closely to confirm it is the original Quake and not Quake II.
Buying Nintendo 64 games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Nintendo 64 cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
