How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 74 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 45 of 74 (~61%) for quality reasons. The remaining 29 are what we'd actually surface.
- 37 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 7 shipped from a region we exclude
- 1 seller had too few feedback ratings
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Mega Man 4 (NES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 120 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Mega Man 4 (NES) because they are: that's the noise.

Mega Man 4: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Saves: passwords, not a battery. There is no save battery to fail on a loose cart, so a working cart has nothing to replace. Check that the product code on the label matches the US release.
- Print variants: an early-run retail print and later reprints may exist, but we can't name the distinguishing marks with confidence. Graded listings usually record the variant on the label, so check the slab, not the seller's title.
- The year in the title doesn't mean much. Sellers date the same US cart 1991 or 1992 interchangeably. Read the cart in the photos, not the year.
- Same name, different game: the Japanese Famicom release, Rockman 4, is often listed with "NES" and "Mega Man 4" in the title. It's a different cart format that won't fit a US NES without an adapter. PAL boxed copies are also listed under the same name.
- Pairs and runs: "Mega Man 3 4", "Mega Man 1-6" and similar are multi-cart sales. If you want a neighbour on its own, see Mega Man 3 or Mega Man 2.
- Box-only and manual-only listings carry the full game title and often sit at high asking prices. Check the photos show a cartridge.

Buying NES games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every NES cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
