How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 538 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 487 of 538 (~91%) for quality reasons. The remaining 51 are what we'd actually surface.
- 404 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 39 shipped from a region we exclude
- 17 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 15 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 8 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 2 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Final Fantasy II (SNES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 118 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Final Fantasy II (SNES) because they are: that's the noise.

Final Fantasy II: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Which game this is. The US Final Fantasy II on Super Nintendo is the game released in Japan as Final Fantasy IV, which is why many listings write "II (IV)". The Japanese game called Final Fantasy II is a different, earlier Famicom title. A listing that pairs "Final Fantasy II" with Famicom or Japan is that other game. The next US release, Final Fantasy III, is Japan's VI.
- Product code and saves. US carts carry an
SNS-product code on the back label. Check it matches the US release. The game saves to battery-backed memory on the cart. The original battery is a flat coin cell, and cells this old often fail, so budget for a swap whatever the seller says. "Made in Japan" printed on a US cart is normal and not a warning sign. - What CIB means here. Sellers describe the box, manual and a fold-out map as the complete set. The map is the piece most often missing: several "complete in box" listings say "no map". Ask for it in the photos before paying a complete-copy price.
- Paper-only listings. The manual, the map and the empty box each sell on their own, and the box alone can ask close to a CIB price. Read the title for "only" or "no game" before you buy.
Buying Super Nintendo games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Super Nintendo cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
