Confirm the exact SKU. The GTX 1060 shipped in 3GB and 6GB versions under one name, and the 3GB card is not just a smaller-memory twin of the 6GB one. The feed requires "gtx", "1060" and "6gb" in the title and rejects titles naming 3GB. Titles that omit the size fall out, which is the cost of not reading item specifics. Ask for a GPU-Z screenshot showing the memory size rather than trusting the title or a model number you have not checked.
Variants and value. Partner boards (Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA, Zotac, PNY and others), Founders Edition cards and OEM pulls from prebuilt PCs (Dell and HP boards turn up regularly) are the same GPU. Asking prices differ mostly by condition, cooler and whether a box is included. Compare against the GTX 1070 8GB if you are weighing a step up.
Listing traps seen while tuning.
- Gaming laptops, laptop motherboards and MXM modules that name "GTX 1060 6GB" in the title. These are laptop parts, not desktop cards, and the feed rejects them.
- Replacement cooling fans and bare PCB listings carrying the card name. The feed rejects them.
- Mining-derived P106-100 boards, which are sold as "1060 level" cards and have no display outputs.
Buying a used graphics card: what to check

Used
- Ask for a screenshot of a monitoring tool (such as GPU-Z) showing the exact model and memory size, plus a stress test or benchmark run with temperatures visible.
- Ask whether the card was used for mining. Mining wear is mostly fans and thermal pads, which are fixable, but it should be disclosed and priced in.
- Check the photos for bent fins, missing screws, broken fan blades and damaged power connectors.
- Confirm whether the manufacturer warranty transfers. It varies by brand and is tied to the serial number.
Refurbished
- Find out who refurbished it (the manufacturer or a third party) and how long the warranty is.
- Ask what was replaced. A repaste and new pads is routine; a replaced core or memory is not.
New
- Check that the box is factory sealed and the serial on the box matches the card, so warranty registration works.
- Very low prices on "new" cards from new seller accounts are the most common scam on this category.
