GTX 1080: buyer & reseller spec sheet
Exact SKU identity. The GTX 1080 is a different card from the GTX 1080 Ti, and titles blur them: some listings name both, or call a Ti an "8GB" card. The plain GTX 1080 carries 8GB of GDDR5X, so a listing quoting another memory size is mislabeled or something else. Variants & value impact. Founders Edition blower cards, OEM pulls and partner boards with large multi-fan coolers are the same GPU, but asking prices shift with cooler design, condition and whether the original box is included. Factory-hybrid and water-cooled editions are a separate buying decision: confirm the radiator and mounting hardware come with the card.
Listing traps. While tuning, titles came up that name the card but are not a loose desktop GPU: complete gaming PCs, an external graphics-dock listing, replacement cooling fans written as "for GTX1080", and a Titan X listed under the same search. A few titles also called the card 6GB or listed a Ti, which do not match. The feed filters these, but check the memory size and what is actually in the box before paying.
Buying a used graphics card: what to check

Used
- Ask for a screenshot of a monitoring tool (such as GPU-Z) showing the exact model and memory size, plus a stress test or benchmark run with temperatures visible.
- Ask whether the card was used for mining. Mining wear is mostly fans and thermal pads, which are fixable, but it should be disclosed and priced in.
- Check the photos for bent fins, missing screws, broken fan blades and damaged power connectors.
- Confirm whether the manufacturer warranty transfers. It varies by brand and is tied to the serial number.
Refurbished
- Find out who refurbished it (the manufacturer or a third party) and how long the warranty is.
- Ask what was replaced. A repaste and new pads is routine; a replaced core or memory is not.
New
- Check that the box is factory sealed and the serial on the box matches the card, so warranty registration works.
- Very low prices on "new" cards from new seller accounts are the most common scam on this category.
