How we filter

Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one part. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different part that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.

Of the 1433 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 1210 of 1433 (~84%) for quality reasons. The remaining 223 are what we'd actually surface.

  • 963 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
  • 125 seller had too few feedback ratings
  • 49 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
  • 37 shipped from a region we exclude
  • 14 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
  • 9 priced above the curated ceiling
  • 8 caught by a junk-listing guard
  • 5 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)

What the feed excludes

An eBay search for NVIDIA RTX 3070 8GB returns far more than the part itself: laptop chips, mining rigs, coolers, empty boxes and whole PCs all mention it in their titles. These are the 152 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to NVIDIA RTX 3070 8GB because they are: that's the noise.

The RTX 3070 is the desktop card NVIDIA positioned one step below the RTX 3080, with 8GB of GDDR6. It was made in large numbers and sold through the crypto-mining boom, so used supply on eBay is deep and the asking prices are all over the place. This page filters a live eBay feed down to US sellers with established feedback. It excludes the RTX 3070 Ti, laptop and mobile chips, laptop system boards, parts-only and broken cards, whole computers, multi-card lots and loose cooler parts, so what's left is single, working desktop 3070s.

Use the condition chips to switch between Used, Refurbished and New. Prices in the table are asking prices from currently-active listings, not completed sales.

Which RTX 3070 you're actually buying

"RTX 3070" covers more than one product on eBay, and the memory figure doesn't help you tell them apart. The desktop RTX 3070 has 8GB. So does the RTX 3070 Ti, and so does the laptop version. A title that says "RTX 3070 8GB" is telling you almost nothing about which of the three you're looking at.

The RTX 3070 Ti is a different card. It's the higher-tier sibling and it uses GDDR6X memory, where the plain 3070 uses GDDR6. This feed excludes the Ti by title, including run-together spellings like "RTX3070Ti". Two things to check on any listing that survives: the Chipset/GPU Model field in the item specifics, and the Memory Type field. While this filter was being built, several listings titled as a plain "RTX 3070" turned out to say "RTX 3070 Ti" in their item specifics, and a few said GDDR6X in the title. A "3070" that says GDDR6X is worth a question; ask the seller which card it is before you bid. If you're weighing the step up anyway, see the RTX 3080 10GB page.

Board partners. NVIDIA's own Founders Edition appears regularly, alongside partner cards from EVGA (FTW3 Ultra, XC3, XC3 Ultra, XC3 Black), ASUS (TUF, ROG Strix, KO, Dual), MSI (Ventus 2X and 3X, Gaming X Trio, Gaming Z Trio), Gigabyte (Gaming OC, Vision OC, Eagle, AORUS Master), ZOTAC (Twin Edge, AMP Holo), PNY (XLR8), Colorful (Battle-Ax) and Palit. They differ in cooler, physical size and clocks, and the price spread between them is a large part of the spread inside the Used chip. Check the specific model's dimensions against your case.

OEM cards. Cards pulled from prebuilt systems show up next to retail partner cards. In this feed they're titled with the system maker's name and part number rather than a retail model, for example Acer and Dell. They're genuine 3070s, but their cooler design and warranty situation differ from retail cards. Ask where the card came from and what, if any, warranty remains.

LHR cards. Many 3070 listings say "LHR" in the title, and some stress "Non-LHR". LHR versions came later and were designed to limit crypto-mining performance. For gaming, that label isn't what separates a good buy from a bad one. A title that advertises "Non-LHR" does suggest the seller is marketing to mining or compute buyers, which is worth a question about how the card was used.

Used vs refurbished vs new RTX 3070

Used is most of this market by a wide margin. Inside Used, the spread comes largely from the board-partner model, whether the box is included, and how clearly the seller states that the card was tested. "Tested working" in the title is common and is a reasonable minimum to insist on.

Refurbished listings carry eBay's graded labels (for example "Excellent - Refurbished" and "Very Good - Refurbished"). The grade reflects whoever did the refurbishing, which may be the manufacturer or may be the seller. Ask which, and ask what warranty comes with it. Note that some sellers list "Amazon Refurbished" cards under eBay's plain Used condition, so they land in the Used chip here.

New and Open box both appear, and Open box is the more common of the two since this card is well past its retail run. A few sellers list a card as New while saying "no box" in the title. Treat a "new" RTX 3070 as something to verify rather than assume. See the checklist below.

What this RTX 3070 feed filters out, and why

Every pattern below showed up in the live listing data while this page's filter was being built.

Laptop chips and laptop system boards sold under the desktop name. This is the most expensive mistake on this search. Gaming laptops with a mobile "RTX 3070 8GB" list right beside desktop cards, and so does a large block of bare laptop motherboards with the GPU soldered on, some of them priced inside the desktop card's range. Not all of them say "laptop" in the title. The tells are a CPU model in the title (a Ryzen 7 6800H, an Intel i7-12700H), words like "motherboard", "mainboard" or "system board", or a laptop model name (Legion, Nitro, Alienware m15, OMEN, Katana, Raider, ThinkPad). Listings titled "3070M" also turn up, and the M is not the desktop card. This page excludes all of them.

The RTX 3070 Ti. It's the single largest group of listings this feed removes, and it includes Ti cards whose titles only reveal the suffix in a model code or run-together spelling. See the section above for how to double-check a survivor.

Parts, coolers and boxes carrying the full card name. Empty retail boxes, replacement fans, a "fan, heatsink and housing only" cooler, a bare PCB sold "as is", and cards openly titled "artifacts only" or "for parts / repair" all list under "RTX 3070". None of them is a working card. This feed removes them by title, by eBay's "For parts or not working" condition and by a price floor.

Whole systems. Workstations and gaming desktops list under GPU searches because the GPU is the headline part. If the title also names a CPU, system RAM, storage or an operating system, you're looking at a computer.

Overseas listings. Cards shipping from outside the US are excluded here, including a block of Japanese and Chinese listings priced well above the US market.

RTX 3070: before you buy

Any condition. Confirm the exact board-partner model, and confirm in the item specifics that the GPU model is the plain RTX 3070 and the memory type is GDDR6. Ask for photos of the actual card, including the power connectors and the I/O bracket, rather than stock images. Confirm the seller accepts returns.

Power. The number and type of power connectors varies between 3070 models, and the Founders Edition uses a different arrangement from most partner cards. Check the connector against the specific model in the listing, confirm your PSU has the matching cables, and ask whether any adapter the card originally shipped with is included.

Used. This card sold through the crypto-mining boom, so ask directly how it was used and for how long. Read the description, not just the title: one Founders Edition listing in this feed had a clean title and disclosed "used in a mining rig" only in the description body. Mining use isn't automatically disqualifying, but it changes what the card is worth and what questions to ask about repasting and fan wear. Ask whether it has ever been opened, repasted or re-padded. A card serviced by someone who can tell you what they did is often a better buy than one nobody has looked at.

Refurbished. Establish who did the refurbishment and what the warranty is. "Refurbished" with no warranty and no named refurbisher is really just "used".

New / Open box. For a card this far past its retail run, a sealed unit deserves scrutiny. Check the seller's history and other listings, and ask for photos of the seal and the serial label. For open box, ask why it was opened and whether all original accessories are present.

On price. Read the price table by condition bucket rather than anchoring on the single lowest number in the feed. A cheap listing is more often a less sought-after partner model, an OEM pull, or a card without its box than a bargain on the same card. If the 3070's price doesn't leave enough room over the tier below, the RTX 3060 12GB page is the comparison to make.

Buying a used graphics card: what to check

These checks apply to every card on our graphics-card pages. The item notes above cover what is specific to this model.

Used

  • Ask for a screenshot of a monitoring tool (such as GPU-Z) showing the exact model and memory size, plus a stress test or benchmark run with temperatures visible.
  • Ask whether the card was used for mining. Mining wear is mostly fans and thermal pads, which are fixable, but it should be disclosed and priced in.
  • Check the photos for bent fins, missing screws, broken fan blades and damaged power connectors.
  • Confirm whether the manufacturer warranty transfers. It varies by brand and is tied to the serial number.

Refurbished

  • Find out who refurbished it (the manufacturer or a third party) and how long the warranty is.
  • Ask what was replaced. A repaste and new pads is routine; a replaced core or memory is not.

New

  • Check that the box is factory sealed and the serial on the box matches the card, so warranty registration works.
  • Very low prices on "new" cards from new seller accounts are the most common scam on this category.
