How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one part. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different part that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 5 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 4 of 5 (~80%) for quality reasons. The remaining 1 are what we'd actually surface.
- 2 shipped from a region we exclude
- 2 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Tesla M40 24GB returns far more than the part itself: laptop chips, mining rigs, coolers, empty boxes and whole PCs all mention it in their titles. These are the 73 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Tesla M40 24GB because they are: that's the noise.

Tesla M40: buyer & reseller spec sheet
Exact SKU identity. The Tesla M40 is a Maxwell-generation datacenter compute card with 24GB of GDDR5. It is not a GeForce card, and it is a different product from the Tesla P40, which sells for similar reasons and shows up in the same searches. Confirm the model on the card's label in the photos, not just in the title. Listings also exist for a 12GB version, so check the memory size too. The feed requires M40 and 24GB in the title and rejects titles naming the P40, P100, K80, V100 or A100, or a 12GB or 16GB card.
Variants & value impact. Listings carry different part numbers: plain NVIDIA, PNY and HPE-labelled cards all appear. Treat the label as a sourcing clue. HPE-branded modules are often asked at a much higher price than a plain card, so compare asking prices against the same kind of listing. The M40 has no display outputs and is built for server airflow, so a listing that includes a fan or blower is a different purchase from a bare card.
Traps. Most of the supply is imported dropship listings; the feed keeps US-located sellers only, which is why it is thin. A bare card with no cooling is common, so budget for airflow if none is included. Confirm the power cable you need against the exact listing, and that your PSU can supply it. Ask for a screenshot showing the card detected by nvidia-smi before you buy.
Buying a used graphics card: what to check
These checks apply to every card on our graphics-card pages. The item notes above cover what is specific to this model.
Used
- Ask for a screenshot of a monitoring tool (such as GPU-Z) showing the exact model and memory size, plus a stress test or benchmark run with temperatures visible.
- Ask whether the card was used for mining. Mining wear is mostly fans and thermal pads, which are fixable, but it should be disclosed and priced in.
- Check the photos for bent fins, missing screws, broken fan blades and damaged power connectors.
- Confirm whether the manufacturer warranty transfers. It varies by brand and is tied to the serial number.
Refurbished
- Find out who refurbished it (the manufacturer or a third party) and how long the warranty is.
- Ask what was replaced. A repaste and new pads is routine; a replaced core or memory is not.
New
- Check that the box is factory sealed and the serial on the box matches the card, so warranty registration works.
- Very low prices on "new" cards from new seller accounts are the most common scam on this category.
