How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 49 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 30 of 49 (~61%) for quality reasons. The remaining 19 are what we'd actually surface.
- 26 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 4 shipped from a region we exclude
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Golden Axe II (Genesis) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 101 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Golden Axe II (Genesis) because they are: that's the noise.

Golden Axe II: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release & save: Sega's sequel to Golden Axe reached the Genesis in 1991. It has no save feature, so there is no save battery to worry about. Check that the product code on the label matches the US release.
- Print variants: Some sellers mention a black label in their titles. Ask for label and box photos before paying a premium for any print.
- Listing traps seen in this feed:
- Two-game and multi-game listings put "Golden Axe" and "Golden Axe II" in one title, or name Golden Axe II inside a multi-cart lot. Confirm you are buying a single Golden Axe II cartridge.
- Posters, Game Gear inserts and manuals carry the game and console names. Look for "poster", "insert" or "manual only" before you buy.
- Mega Drive imports use near-identical titles. Check the label and seller location match a US release.
Buying Sega Genesis games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Sega Genesis cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
