How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 31 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 10 of 31 (~32%) for quality reasons. The remaining 21 are what we'd actually surface.
- 9 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 1 caught by a junk-listing guard
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition (Genesis) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 98 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition (Genesis) because they are: that's the noise.

Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition: collector & reseller spec sheet
Capcom's 1993 Genesis fighter is a common cart. Most of the feed is loose cartridges and boxed copies; factory-sealed copies sit in a much higher asking tier.
- Save mechanism. None. It's an arcade-style fighter, so there's no save battery to worry about.
- Print variants. Sellers don't consistently identify reprints, so don't pay a premium for a variant claim you can't see in the photos. Ask for clear shots of the label and the back of the cart.
- Name traps. Sellers write "Street Fighter II 2", "Street Fighter 2" or "SCE" for this same game. It is a different game from Street Fighter II Turbo and Super Street Fighter II, which are SNES titles.
- Listing traps. While tuning we saw box-only and manual-only listings carrying the full game name, plus two-game lots and Mega Drive / PAL imports. Check the title says cart, game or CIB, and that the seller shows the cartridge.
Buying Sega Genesis games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Sega Genesis cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
