How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 35 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 15 of 35 (~43%) for quality reasons. The remaining 20 are what we'd actually surface.
- 11 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 2 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 1 seller had too few feedback ratings
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for The Revenge of Shinobi (Genesis) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 111 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to The Revenge of Shinobi (Genesis) because they are: that's the noise.

Revenge of Shinobi: collector & reseller spec sheet
Sega's side-scrolling ninja action game launched on the Genesis in 1989. Confirm the product code on the label matches the US release.
Print variants. Both an original print and a later "Sega Classics" reprint circulate, and sellers often put the Sega Classics name in titles. Check the photos against the packaging the seller claims rather than trusting the title.
Traps seen while tuning this feed:
- Sibling confusion. Shinobi III carries the subtitle "Return of the Ninja Master", and some sellers write "Revenge of the Ninja Master" or list both games in one title. Check the label before paying.
- Multi-game carts and lots. Titles name Revenge of Shinobi alongside Sonic, Golden Axe and others on a 6-Pak style cart or in a bundle. These are a different product from the single-game cart.
- Parts of a copy sold alone. Case-only, cover-art-only and manual-only listings use the full game title and a collector price. Read the title for "only" before assuming a complete copy.
Buying Sega Genesis games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Sega Genesis cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
