How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 24 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 10 of 24 (~42%) for quality reasons. The remaining 14 are what we'd actually surface.
- 6 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 2 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 1 shipped from a region we exclude
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for World of Illusion (Genesis) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 102 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to World of Illusion (Genesis) because they are: that's the noise.

World of Illusion: collector & reseller spec sheet
- What it is: World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, a 1992 two-player Sega Genesis platformer. This page tracks the US release only.
- Save mechanism: none that we can document. Treat any seller claim about a battery or save feature with suspicion and ask for a photo of the cart label.
- Print variants: listings mention label and box variations (a "red box" copy, a "big text label" copy). We can't verify what each means for value, so compare against a photo of a known authentic copy, and price a variant by its own sold history rather than the seller's say-so.
- Not to be confused with: Castle of Illusion, a different Mickey Mouse Genesis game. Sellers also pair this title with other Disney carts in two-game listings; the feed rejects the ones it catches.
- Listing traps we saw while tuning: box-only and inserts-only listings, framed ads, and an imported Korean-market version with a different title string and a much higher asking price.
Buying Sega Genesis games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Sega Genesis cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
