How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 44 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 36 of 44 (~82%) for quality reasons. The remaining 8 are what we'd actually surface.
- 31 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 4 shipped from a region we exclude
- 1 seller had too few feedback ratings
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for TMNT: Tournament Fighters (Genesis) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 93 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to TMNT: Tournament Fighters (Genesis) because they are: that's the noise.

Tournament Fighters: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release and carrier. Konami released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters for the Sega Genesis in 1993. It is a one-on-one fighting game and a separate title from the beat-'em-up Hyperstone Heist. Check that the product code on the label matches the US release.
- Same title, other consoles. Tournament Fighters also shipped on other systems, and the Genesis game is a different cartridge. Confirm the listing says Genesis and that the photos show a Genesis cartridge.
- Title spelling. Sellers write "TMNT", "Ninja Turtles", the full name, or "TNMT". The feed accepts all of these.
- Print variants. Treat any claim of a rare or early print as unverified unless the seller shows the label and product code against a known authentic photo.
- Listing traps. Cart-only, box-only and case-only listings sit under the same title, so read the description for what is actually included. Multi-game lots that name this game are filtered out.
Buying Sega Genesis games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Sega Genesis cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and plastic case and cover art are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
