How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 818 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 809 of 818 (~99%) for quality reasons. The remaining 9 are what we'd actually surface.
- 608 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 158 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 40 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
- 2 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 1 shipped from a region we exclude
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Harvest Moon (SNES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 111 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Harvest Moon (SNES) because they are: that's the noise.

Harvest Moon: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release and save. Natsume published the US cart in 1997. Progress saves to battery-backed memory on the cart, so a used copy's old coin cell can die at any point. Ask whether a save holds, and plan on a battery swap whatever the listing says. Check that the product code on the label matches the US release.
- One retail print. We don't know of a budget reprint of the US cart, so the asking price depends on condition, completeness and grading, not on which print it is. A cart-only copy is the cheap way in. Complete-in-box and graded copies ask several times as much.
- Region. A PAL release was sold in Europe and Australia, and the Japanese original is Bokujō Monogatari on Super Famicom. Both turn up under the same English title, and this feed drops both. If you see "PAL", "AUS" or "SFC" in a listing title elsewhere, it isn't the US cart.
- Listing traps we saw while tuning. Manuals, box-and-manual sets and store display cards list at prices close to a real cart, so read the title for "only" before you bid. Some "Like New" cart listings ask far below every other copy. On a game this expensive, that usually means a reproduction, which is why the feed has a price floor.
Buying Super Nintendo games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Super Nintendo cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
