How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 149 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 113 of 149 (~76%) for quality reasons. The remaining 36 are what we'd actually surface.
- 106 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 3 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 shipped from a region we exclude
- 1 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for The Lion King (SNES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 118 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to The Lion King (SNES) because they are: that's the noise.

The Lion King: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release: Virgin Interactive published the US Super Nintendo version in 1994. Check that the product code on the label reads as the US release before paying a premium.
- Print variants: Later reprints of the game exist alongside the original 1994 run. Sellers sometimes name a reprint publisher, and label differences between copies are common. Ask for a label photo and compare it to a known authentic copy rather than trusting a seller's "first print" claim.
- Listing traps seen in this feed:
- Modern collector editions. A limited-run "Legacy Cartridge Collection" release of the game circulates on eBay at asking prices well above a vintage cart. Check the photos, year and packaging before assuming a listing is a 1994 copy.
- Guides and manuals under the game's name. Strategy guides and loose manuals use the same title and the word "SNES". Read for "manual only" or "guide" before bidding on a cheap listing.
- Other regions. Japanese and PAL copies carry the same title and sell at very different asking prices. This page tracks US copies.
Buying Super Nintendo games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Super Nintendo cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
