How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 1028 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 841 of 1028 (~82%) for quality reasons. The remaining 187 are what we'd actually surface.
- 670 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 140 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 21 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 9 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 1 priced above the curated ceiling
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Super Mario All-Stars (SNES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 95 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Super Mario All-Stars (SNES) because they are: that's the noise.

Super Mario All-Stars: collector & reseller spec sheet
Product code and save. US carts carry a product code on the back label; many sellers put it straight in the title. A code starting SNSP- is a PAL cart and SHVC- is the Japanese Super Famicom release (sold there as "Super Mario Collection"). The cart saves progress in all four games to battery-backed SRAM. A dead battery doesn't stop the games from playing, only from keeping saves, so a dated battery replacement is worth more than "tested working".
Print variants. The original 1993 retail print and a later Player's Choice budget reprint both exist. The difference shows on the box, so a loose cart is simply "an All-Stars cart"; for CIB, ask for a photo of the box front before paying original-print prices.
Listing traps.
- All-Stars + Super Mario World. A separate five-game combo cart that adds Super Mario World. Sellers sometimes shorten it to "All-Stars World" or "All-Stars + World". This feed leaves those listings out, so check the label shows only Super Mario All-Stars.
- Manual-only listings. The manual sells on its own constantly and is often titled just like the game. Check that the photos show a cart.
Buying Super Nintendo games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Super Nintendo cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
