How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 71 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 25 of 71 (~35%) for quality reasons. The remaining 46 are what we'd actually surface.
- 20 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 2 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 2 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Illusion of Gaia (SNES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 111 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Illusion of Gaia (SNES) because they are: that's the noise.

Illusion of Gaia: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code and saves. US carts carry the product code
SNS-JG-USA; check the label matches before paying a US price. The game saves to battery-backed memory on the cart. The original battery is a flat coin cell, and cells this old often fail, so budget for a swap whatever the seller says. "Made in Japan" on a US cart is normal. - Which game this is. The Japanese release is Gaia Gensouki on Super Famicom (
SHVC-JG). It is region-different and prices lower, so a listing that names it, the Famicom or Japan is not this cart. The feed filters those out. - What CIB means here. Sellers list box, manual and a fold-out world map as the complete set, and many titles say "no map" when it is missing. The map is the piece buyers ask about most, so confirm it in the photos before paying a complete-copy price. A "complete" copy without the map sits well below one with it.
- Paper-only listings. The Nintendo Power handbook, the map and the box each sell on their own. Read the title for "only" or "no game" before you buy.
- Sealed copies. Sealed listings are usually graded and priced as collector pieces, far above the playing-copy tiers. Treat an ungraded "sealed" listing with an unusually low asking price as suspect and check the seams and wrap in the photos.
Buying Super Nintendo games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Super Nintendo cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
