How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 28 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 10 of 28 (~36%) for quality reasons. The remaining 18 are what we'd actually surface.
- 4 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 3 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 2 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 1 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Secret of Evermore (SNES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 98 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Secret of Evermore (SNES) because they are: that's the noise.

Secret of Evermore: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code and saves. Check that the label's product code matches the US release before paying a US price. The game saves to battery-backed memory on the cart. The original battery is a flat coin cell, and cells this old often fail, so budget for a swap whatever the seller says.
- Region. Evermore was a North American release built by Square's US team, and PAL copies exist alongside it. Listings that mention PAL, French or German are a different cart: they will not run on a US console without an adapter.
- What "complete" means. Sellers often add posters or a map insert to a CIB listing, and those extras are part of why complete copies ask more. Posters and guides also sell on their own under the same game name. Check the title says cartridge, box and manual, not just "poster" or "insert."
- Strategy guides. Several licensed player's guides carry the game name in the title. They are books, not the game; the feed filters guides, but a loose "w/ guide" listing is still worth reading closely.
- Sealed and graded. Sealed copies are listed as graded slabs far more often than as raw shrink-wrap. Treat a slab's grade and the grading company's cert number as the thing you are buying, not the box.
Buying Super Nintendo games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Super Nintendo cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
