How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 178 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 129 of 178 (~72%) for quality reasons. The remaining 49 are what we'd actually surface.
- 112 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 6 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 4 priced above the curated ceiling
- 3 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 3 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 1 shipped from a region we exclude
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Mortal Kombat II (SNES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 113 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Mortal Kombat II (SNES) because they are: that's the noise.

Mortal Kombat II: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release and publisher. Acclaim published the SNES version of Mortal Kombat II in the US in 1994. Check that the product code on the label matches the US release.
- Print variants. Variant naming is a confusion zone, so don't pay a premium on a seller's claim alone. Ask for a photo of the label and rear of the cart, and compare it with a known authentic copy.
- Sibling titles. The first Mortal Kombat is a separate game. So are Mortal Kombat 3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Sellers sometimes pack two or three of these into one listing. The feed rejects titles that name them, and it also rejects multi-game lots.
- Listing traps. Posters, manuals, boxes and strategy guides carry the game's name in the title. The feed rejects standalone ones and keeps complete copies that list a poster among the contents. Cart-only and complete copies sell at very different asking prices, so read the title for what is actually included.
Buying Super Nintendo games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every Super Nintendo cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
