Secret of Mana: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code and saves. US carts carry the product code
SNS-K2-USA; check the label matches before paying a US price. The game saves to battery-backed memory on the cart. The original battery is a flat coin cell, and cells this old often fail, so budget for a swap whatever the seller says. "Made in Japan" on a US cart is normal. - Which game this is. The Japanese release is Seiken Densetsu 2 on Super Famicom. It is region-different and prices far lower, so listings that name it or the Famicom are not this cart.
- "Secret of Mana 2" is not a US cart. The sequel never had a US SNES release. Carts sold as "Secret of Mana 2", often "complete" and listed as new, are fan-translated custom builds, priced as such. Same for "Secret of Mana Eternity" and other hacks.
- What CIB means here. Sellers list the box, manual and a fold-out map/poster as the complete set. The map is the piece buyers ask about most, so check it's in the photos before paying a complete-copy price.
- Paper-only listings. The manual, the map/poster and the box each sell on their own. Read the title for "only" before you buy.
Buying Super Nintendo games: what to check by condition

Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
