How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 393 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 224 of 393 (~57%) for quality reasons. The remaining 169 are what we'd actually surface.
- 192 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 21 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 6 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 3 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 2 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt (NES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 112 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt (NES) because they are: that's the noise.

Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt: collector & reseller spec sheet
- No save. Both games on the cart are arcade-style with no battery or password save, so there is no save cell to check.
- Which cart this page tracks. The two-game Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt cart, label code NES-MH-USA. A separate three-game cart adds World Class Track Meet and the feed keeps it out, as it does standalone Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt carts. Before paying, read the label: it should name exactly two games and carry the NES-MH product code.
- Print variants. Sellers describe different shells and label styles on these carts, and some ask extra for them. Treat any variant premium as unverified unless the photos show the back and label clearly, and compare against a known authentic photo.
- Listing traps. Titles of this cart often include "Nintendo Entertainment System", which is just the console name, but the same words also front multi-game lots and console-and-Zapper sets. Check that the listing is for one cartridge, and whether the Zapper, manual or box is actually included.
Buying NES games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every NES cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
