How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 201 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 150 of 201 (~75%) for quality reasons. The remaining 51 are what we'd actually surface.
- 108 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 23 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 9 shipped from a region we exclude
- 5 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 3 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 2 priced above the curated ceiling
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Bubble Bobble (NES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 111 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Bubble Bobble (NES) because they are: that's the noise.

Bubble Bobble: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Publisher & save: Taito's arcade port for the NES, US release in the late 1980s. It has no save feature, so there is no save battery to worry about. A working-game claim only means the cartridge boots, so look for a seller who shows it running.
- Product code: check that the label and manual carry the US-release code and a Taito/Nintendo licensed label. A Famicom or other-region label on a "NES" listing is the wrong game for this page.
- Print variants: more than one label and seal style exists, and sealed copies are usually sold graded. How much a given variant adds to the asking price is unsettled, so compare against sold listings for the same variant instead of trusting a "rare" tag in the title.
- Trap 1: Bubble Bobble Part 2. A separate, much scarcer NES release that sells for many times the original's asking price. Listings titled "Bubble Bobble 2", "Part 2" or "2-Part" are not this game. The feed filters those titles, but read the title before you pay.
- Trap 2: other platforms and cartridge shells. Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Game Gear, Commodore 64 and DS versions all share the title, and so do loose "gray cartridge shell" listings. Confirm that the photos show an NES cartridge with a working board.
- Manual-only listings: standalone manuals and replacement boxes use the game's name and sell cheaply. Check the listing says "game" or "cartridge" rather than "manual only."
Buying NES games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every NES cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
