How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 131 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 83 of 131 (~63%) for quality reasons. The remaining 48 are what we'd actually surface.
- 72 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 7 shipped from a region we exclude
- 2 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 1 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Ghosts 'n Goblins (NES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 112 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Ghosts 'n Goblins (NES) because they are: that's the noise.

Ghosts 'n Goblins: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code & saving: US carts carry the
NES-GG-USAcode. Check that the label code matches the US release before paying a US price. The game is a straight arcade port with no battery save, so there is no save battery to fail. - Print variants: sellers advertise early-run copies as "circle seal" and "hangtab" prints, and ask well above the going loose or CIB rate for them. Treat those words as a claim to verify against photos of the box and label, not as proof.
- Cart-only is the norm: most listings are bare cartridges, and complete copies sit far above them in asking price. A title that says "complete" or "CIB" should show the box, manual and cart together in the photos.
- Title-sharing listings: the name is shared by other things that are not the US NES cart. Watch for:
- Japanese Makaimura Famicom copies, sometimes titled "Famicom NES".
- Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance versions, which carry the same title.
- Standalone manuals and multi-game NES lots that name the game.
- Graded sealed copies with asking prices in the tens of thousands.

Buying NES games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every NES cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
