How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 251 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 176 of 251 (~70%) for quality reasons. The remaining 75 are what we'd actually surface.
- 148 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 11 shipped from a region we exclude
- 6 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 5 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 2 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
- 2 priced above the curated ceiling
- 2 priced below our floor (too good to be true)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Excitebike (NES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 103 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Excitebike (NES) because they are: that's the noise.

Excitebike: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Product code & saving. The US NES cart carries the code
NES-EB-USA, and that code shows up in sellers' titles. Check that the label matches the US release. The game has no save battery, so there's no dead-battery risk on a loose cart. - Print variants. Excitebike is an early Nintendo release, so several print runs exist. Listings mention revisions, "Programmable Series" labelling, different screw counts and box variants such as hang-tab boxes. These can move asking prices, especially on CIB and graded copies, but the variant names are used loosely. For anything priced as a variant, ask for photos of the label and box, and compare them with a known authentic example. On graded copies, trust the grader's label over the seller's description.
- Listing traps. Search results mix in other versions with near-identical names: the Nintendo 64 Excitebike 64, the Game Boy Advance Classic NES Series port, and the Japanese Famicom cart. The feed filters these, but check the platform in the photos on any listing with a vague title. Loose-cart listings tend to be cheap, so a "sealed" or graded listing priced near loose-cart levels deserves a closer look.

Buying NES games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every NES cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
