How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 201 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 149 of 201 (~74%) for quality reasons. The remaining 52 are what we'd actually surface.
- 127 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 9 shipped from a region we exclude
- 7 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 4 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 2 seller positive-feedback percentage too low
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for DuckTales (NES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 109 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to DuckTales (NES) because they are: that's the noise.

DuckTales: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Saves: none. DuckTales has no battery and no password system, so a loose cart has no save battery to replace. Check that the product code on the label and on the back of the box matches the US release.
- DuckTales 2 is a different and much scarcer game. The 1993 sequel asks far more than the original, and some listings put both carts in one sale. Read the title screen or the label in the photos before you pay a sequel price for the first game, or a first-game price for what turns out to be the sequel.
- Same name, other hardware: the Game Boy DuckTales and the DuckTales: The Quest for Gold PC game are both often listed as just "DuckTales". The Japanese Famicom release, titled Wanpaku Duck Yume Bouken, is often listed with "NES" in the title. It's a smaller cart that won't fit a US NES without an adapter.
- The year in the title doesn't mean much. Sellers date the same US cart 1985 or 1989. Go by the cart in the photos.
- Graded sealed copies are a separate tier. WATA and VGA graded sealed copies ask many times what a CIB copy does, so compare a graded copy only against other graded listings.
Buying NES games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every NES cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
