How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 24 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 10 of 24 (~42%) for quality reasons. The remaining 14 are what we'd actually surface.
- 7 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 2 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 seller had too few feedback ratings
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Crystalis (NES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 100 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Crystalis (NES) because they are: that's the noise.

Crystalis: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Publisher & release: SNK published the North American NES release in 1990. It is an action RPG, and the US copy is the one this feed tracks.
- Save mechanism: it keeps your progress on the cartridge with a battery-backed save. A cell this old may be dead or dying, so budget for a battery swap whatever the seller says. A listing that says "battery works" or "save tested" is more useful than one that says only "tested".
- Product code: check that the code on the label matches the US release. Copies of the same game sold as Japanese imports use a different title, so a "Crystalis" in the listing text doesn't guarantee a US cart.
- Print variants: this page doesn't pin down specific print marks. Compare a label and back-of-cart photos against a known authentic copy rather than relying on a seller's "rare variant" claim.
- Title-specific traps: two look-alikes showed up while we tuned this feed.
- The Japanese Famicom release, God Slayer, is the same game and sometimes carries "Crystalis" in the listing.
- A separate Game Boy Color version of Crystalis exists and sellers sometimes list it under NES search terms.
- Always confirm the console named in the title and photos is the NES.
Asking prices run well above loose for complete copies, and sealed or graded copies are priced far higher again, so watch the condition chip before judging a deal.
Buying NES games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every NES cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
