How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 362 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 324 of 362 (~90%) for quality reasons. The remaining 38 are what we'd actually surface.
- 274 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 35 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 11 shipped from a region we exclude
- 3 seller had too few feedback ratings
- 1 wrong condition (e.g. parts-only)
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Double Dragon (NES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 133 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Double Dragon (NES) because they are: that's the noise.

Double Dragon: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Release and label: Double Dragon came out on the NES in the US in 1988, published by Tradewest. Check that the product code on the label matches the US release, not a Japanese Famicom one.
- Print variants: Sellers advertise "1st print" and similar claims. We haven't confirmed a distinguishing mark between prints, so don't pay a premium without a reference photo of a known copy.
- Not the same game: The first game shares its title with Double Dragon II: The Revenge and Double Dragon III on the same console, and with Game Boy, Master System and home-computer ports. Check the console and the numeral in the photos, not just the title. The feed filters the ones it can recognise, but a mislabelled photo is still yours to catch.
- Listing traps seen while tuning: Empty boxes, bare manuals and case-only listings are sold under the game's name. Graded and "factory sealed" copies sit at a much higher asking tier, so read the grade and seal notes before comparing them with raw carts.
Buying NES games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every NES cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
