River City Ransom: collector & reseller spec sheet

• Release and save: River City Ransom came out on the NES in the US in 1989, published by American Technos. Check that the label's product code is a US code, not a PAL or Japanese one. The game saves with a password rather than a battery, so there is no dead-battery risk to price in.
• Print variants: We haven't confirmed a distinguishing mark for early vs. later prints, so don't pay a premium for a "first print" claim without a reference photo of a known copy.
• Not the same game: The Japanese original (Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari) and the PAL release (Street Gangs) are different regional carts, and both turn up in titles that say "River City Ransom". River City Girls limited-run NES-style boxes are modern merchandise for a different game. The feed filters all of these out.
• Listing traps seen while tuning: Sellers list the Nintendo Power Dynowarz poster, bare manuals, box-only copies, and resin figures under the game's name. Several complete copies come with a photocopied manual, which is not a CIB manual. Graded and "factory sealed" copies sit at a much higher asking tier, so read the grade and any seal notes before comparing them with raw carts.
