How we filter
Every feed has its own filter, tuned by hand for this one game. Before any change goes live, those filters are tested against thousands of real eBay listing titles. Every night, each feed is checked against every other deal page in its category, so a listing for a different game that slips in gets flagged and fixed instead of quietly shown.
Of the 537 listings we observed for this game in the last 30 days, we filtered out 505 of 537 (~94%) for quality reasons. The remaining 32 are what we'd actually surface.
- 501 matched a bootleg / out-of-scope keyword
- 2 priced above the curated ceiling
- 1 caught by a junk-listing guard
- 1 seller had too few feedback ratings
What the feed excludes
An eBay search for Duck Hunt (NES) returns far more than the game itself: controllers, T-shirts, strategy guides, imports and repro carts all mention it in their titles. These are the 100 terms we filter out to keep this feed to the real thing. A listing whose title contains any of them never reaches the feed, the price table or an alert. Many look unrelated to Duck Hunt (NES) because they are: that's the noise.

Duck Hunt: collector & reseller spec sheet
- Standalone vs combo cart. Most "Duck Hunt" results are the Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt two-in-one (or the three-in-one with World Class Track Meet), which is a different, far more common cart. This feed rejects any title naming Mario, so everything here is the standalone Duck Hunt. If a title is vague, check the label photo. The Mario game is on its own page: Super Mario Bros..
- Needs a Zapper. Duck Hunt is a light-gun game and plays with the NES Zapper. Zapper-only listings often carry the game's name in the title; the feed rejects those, but a game-plus-Zapper listing can still appear, so read what is actually included before comparing asking prices.
- Print variants. Listings mention 5-screw carts and an "oval seal" label, and sellers ask a premium for them. These names are used loosely, so ask for label and back-of-cart photos and compare them with a known authentic example before paying a variant premium.
- Save mechanism. The game has no save battery or password, so a loose cart carries no dead-battery risk.
Buying NES games: what to check by condition
These checks apply to every NES cartridge. The item notes above cover what is specific to this game.
Loose
- Compare the label, shell color and front/back markings against a photo of a known-authentic cart. Repro labels are often glossier, blurrier or slightly off-color.
- Ask for a photo of the board or the back of the cart. An opened shell is not automatically bad (battery swaps are normal), but it should be disclosed.
- If the game saves to a battery, ask whether the save holds. Old save batteries fail with age regardless of what the listing says, so budget for a replacement.
CIB (complete in box)
- Confirm the box, manual and inner tray or insert are all shown in the photos, not just listed in the title.
- Check that the box and manual are the same region and print as the cart. Mixed-and-matched "complete" copies are common.
- Box wear (crushing, tears, sticker residue) moves price far more than the cart does. Judge it from photos, not from the word "mint".
Sealed & graded
- For a graded copy, look the certification number up on the grading company's own site and confirm the photos match the slab you are buying.
- For an ungraded sealed copy, compare the wrap and seal pattern against a known factory-sealed example. Resealing is common, and a reseal on a loose game is worth a loose price.
- Ask for photos of every side, the seams and any price stickers. Refusing extra photos on a sealed listing is a red flag on its own.
