CRESVAMENT _

Loose, CIB or sealed? Ask the bot.

Collecting servers spend a lot of time asking what a copy is going for. The CresvaMent bot answers in the channel: current eBay asking prices for tracked retro games, split into loose cartridges, complete-in-box and sealed.

  • Free, no account needed
  • Asks for zero permissions
  • Answers commands, never posts on its own
  • Covers 1399 tracked retro games

Why a price bot belongs in a collecting server

In a retro collecting server the price question is rarely just "what is it worth". It is "what is a loose cart worth, and how much more for the box and manual". The bot answers both at once: /price reports Loose, CIB (complete in box) and Sealed as separate medians, so the gap between them is right there in the reply.

Sealed copies of many retro games barely come up for sale, so the bot only shows a condition when there are listings behind it, and it prints the sample size under every median. A CIB median from six listings is a rough guide; a loose median from forty is a solid read of what sellers want.

Before a trade, /history shows whether asking prices for a game have been climbing or sliding over the last 30, 90 or 180 days. For a listing someone posts, /check flags reproductions, box-only and manual-only listings and sellers with weak feedback, using the same rules as our eBay listing checker.

Remember what these numbers are: asking prices on current eBay listings, which usually sit above what copies actually sell for. They tell you what you'd pay to buy one today, not what you'd get selling one.

Try it with real tracked items

Item names autocomplete as you type, so you don't need the exact spelling.

  • /price earthbound EarthBound (SNES): Loose against CIB, so you can see what the box and manual add.
  • /history item: pokemon crystal days: 90 Pokemon Crystal (Game Boy Color): Three months of asking prices before you buy or list.
  • /compare item1: ocarina of time item2: ocarina of time gold Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64): Grey cart against the gold cart, median against median.
  • /deals super mario rpg Super Mario RPG (SNES): The five newest copies that passed the repro and box-only filters.
  • /movers Which tracked games moved most in 90 days, up and down.

Where the numbers come from

  1. A tuned search per item. Each tracked item has its own CresvaMent search that watches new eBay Buy It Now listings and drops the junk: reproductions, box-only and for-parts listings, laptop GPUs sold as desktop cards, and the like.
  2. A nightly snapshot. Just after midnight UTC, the median, 25th and 75th percentile asking price is computed for each condition across the listings currently matching that search.
  3. The bot reads the snapshot. It asks the same public price API the deal pages use, so /price and the item's deal page show the same figures.
Median
The middle asking price: half the listings ask less, half ask more.
P25 / P75
The 25th and 75th percentile. The middle half of listings sit between them.
n
How many listings the figure came from. Small n, rough figure.
90-day trend
How the median asking price has moved over the last 90 days.

Asking prices, not sold prices. Every number the bot shows is what sellers are asking on eBay, not what buyers paid. Asking prices usually run above sale prices. Use them as a reference and check eBay's sold listings before you pay.

Permissions and privacy

  • Zero permissions. The invite asks for the bot and applications.commands scopes with permissions set to 0. Slash-command replies don't need any channel permission.
  • Can't read your chat. It doesn't use Discord's message content intent. It only receives the slash commands people send it.
  • Never posts unprompted. It replies to the command that asked and nothing else: no DMs, no announcements, no scheduled posts.
  • Public data only. It reads the same public price data shown on the deal pages, and has no access to CresvaMent accounts or trackers.
  • Easy to remove. Remove it like any other app, from Server Settings → Integrations, or kick it from the member list.

Add it to Discord

Two ways in. Add to a server puts the commands in front of everyone there, if you can manage that server. Add to your account needs no admin: the commands follow you into any server and your DMs. In a server that doesn't allow external apps, Discord shows those replies only to you.

  1. Click Add to a server or Add to your account.
  2. For a server, pick one where you have the Manage Server permission; Discord requires it to add any app. For your account, there's nothing to pick.
  3. Confirm. There are no permissions to review, because the bot asks for none.
  4. Type / in any channel and pick a CresvaMent command. The first time, Discord can take a little while (occasionally up to an hour) to show a new app's commands.

Want a ping when a matching listing shows up?

The bot only answers commands; it won't post alerts. For alerts on your own searches, create a CresvaMent tracker with your keywords, exclusions, price range and condition, and turn on Discord webhook notifications for a channel you choose. The free plan covers one profile with delayed notifications; paid plans ping within about a minute. The setup is walked through in how to get Discord notifications for new eBay listings.

FAQ

How does the bot tell loose, CIB and sealed apart?
From the listing itself. Each listing is sorted into Loose, CIB or Sealed from its title and eBay condition. Listings that cannot be placed go into a separate Unknown group instead of skewing the other three, and a condition with no listings is left out, which is why some games show only one or two.
Are reproductions filtered out?
Each tracked game has its own tuned search that drops reproductions, box-only, manual-only and other listings that are not the actual game before prices are computed. /check runs the same kind of rules on one listing you paste in.
Is this the same as PriceCharting?
No. Sold-price sites like PriceCharting tell you what copies sold for. This bot reports asking prices on current eBay listings, which usually run higher. Both are useful: one is what buyers paid, the other is what sellers want for the copies available today.
Which games are covered?
Games with a CresvaMent deal page, well over a thousand of them across NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, DS, GameCube, Wii, PlayStation 1 to 3, PSP, Xbox 360, Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast. /browse with the video games category lists them. It does not price arbitrary titles.
Why is the CIB median so far from loose?
Complete copies are scarcer and carry the box and manual, so sellers ask more. On some games the CIB sample is small, so check the n under each median: a median from seven listings can move a lot from one day to the next.
Can the bot alert us when a copy is listed cheaply?
No, the bot only answers commands. For an alert on a specific game, create a CresvaMent tracker with Discord webhook notifications; the deal page's "Track this item" button sets one up with the same filters the page uses.
